Tips and Tricks for Designers and Builder Users

In order to deliver a successful implementation of a graphic design into Camilyo, we concentrated several tips and tricks about the builder meant to direct designers and users towards an optimal work process. We plan to keep this section updated with best practices not only from our own experience with the builder but also from our many devoted users, so make sure you visit frequently

It is important to understand how Camilyo sites are structured and designed, in addition to the options for customization, right from the beginning.
Camilyo sites are built according to several layout structures, which are compiled of sections that can be built and designed depending on the chosen layout. Each layout you choose can be designed on several layers, from the whole page, to section areas to only the content area. Learn more about layouts and theme design

Tips

  • Websites are created with a width of 990px by default, but this can be easily customized if needed
  • The sections in the builder can be docked, meaning they will keep their position even when the user browses through the site from one end to another. For example, once the header of the home page is docked, scrolling down below the fold of the page means that the header will scroll down with the user, always on the top end of the visible content area
  • Several features are currently not available in the system, to hopefully be added in the future: multiple stripes layout, sections separator, infinite scrolling
  • Even though possible in the system, currently we recommend to avoid from using floating objects as this feature is under development
  • Components are located in the content section which is located in the middle of a page, across layouts. This affects the design decisions for example regarding the location and presentation of images, galleries, menus, text boxes, etc.
  • When designing a menu, keep in mind that currently you are able to set a design for menu items as a group, not as individual elements (for example, you can't set one menu item to be red and the next to be blue- all will be presented with the same settings)
  • A wide range of Google fonts is available

Tips

  • In order for the content of the site to be adapted successfully across platforms, we recommend setting sizes of components using percentages and not absolute pixels, when possible, so that they will change appropriately to a different size screen
  • The default width of a mobile site in Camilyo is 320px, but not like web, it cannot be customized. We recommend setting the width of components in mobile as 98% and aligning them to the center, so they appears correctly across different screen sizes
  • The default width of a tablet site in Camilyo is 990px (as in web)
  • The default width of a Facebook site in Camilyo is 880px
  • Flash is supported in the web site builder version, however not for mobile and tablet
